I the adopter (adopter’s name)_____________________________ of this horse (horse’s name), ____________________________agrees to the following: (please initial).

1.      To provide adequate food and water, clean and dry shelter of adequate size and adequate pasture/paddock turnout each day._______

2.      To provide all annual and semi-annual vaccinations, regular deworming and regular farrier care, medical check-ups, and emergency care by a Veterinarian. __________

3.      I understand that I am assuming all financial responsibility for any illness that becomes apparent after the signing of this contract. I also understand that any illness that has been diagnosed and is being treated at the time of the adoption will be brought to my attention. I will receive instructions and medication, if necessary, for treating my new horse. As of the signing of this contract any illness, new or existing, becomes my full responsibility. _______

4.      I understand I am responsible for keeping track of and informing myself of my horse’s medical history that has been provided to me._______

5.      If I am no longer able or willing to care for the horse(s) I will contact RCAR first and give RCAR the option to obtain horse(s) without charge. The horse(s) may not be sold, given away, abandoned, or turned into animal control.  I agree to give RCAR 4 weeks to arrange for pickup or delivery of horse back to RCAR in this event.________

6.      I understand RCAR cannot guarantee the age, health, breed, temperament, soundness, abilities (on the ground or under saddle) or maximum/minimum weight/height of any horse. I further understand that this horse was rescued and the history of it’s past is unknown, this horse may have existing issues mentally and/or physically and I agree to meet and work through those issues patiently and lovingly. _________  

7.      I understand if I violate this agreement the horse may be seized, or I as the new owner may be held financially responsible for any and all legal/court, shelter/animal control or other fees._____

8.      If at any time in the future I have any questions, concerns or complaints I agree to contact RCAR directly._______               

9.      RCAR reserves the right to come and visit/check on my adopted horse without notice at anytime.

I understand and agree to the terms of the adoption contract and am committed to

providing a safe and loving home for the horses’ life.
