Jeffrey

Fill out a Horse Adoption Application

I don't think you could have a more beautifully marked appaloosa than Jeffrey!! This handsome gelding is seeking a forever home ASAP! Jeffrey is only 10 yrs old, 15.2 hh, he is sound and an easy keeper, sweet and likes attention...is always looking for treats, walks right up to you in the pasture - very personable!!! Adorable in your pocket disposition. He has good ground manners and easy to get along with.

He does have Uveitis (moon blindness), not complete but it does effect his sight and requires a home that can accomodate his needs:1) Must be kept in a pasture alone or with 1 other horse that is VERY calm and easy going2) Must have secure fencing, board fencing is best3) Must have horse knowledge and have the ability to understand his insecurities regarding his blindness.4) Can offer him a regular routine with little changes.

Jeffrey can still see, but shadows and changes from light to dark affect him most....like coming into or out of the barn or stall. He would do best in a smaller pasture with a run-in shed where he can have a normal routine with little change.

He still rides - though requires a rider with confidence to give him confidence. If you build a bond and Jeffrey trusts you then he will believe in where you point him and what you tell him to go. He is best ridden in an arena he knows or a pasture he knows and not totally unfamiliar places and could walk/trot with the right matching person.

If you are wanting a special lasting relationship with a GREAT HORSE, a beautiful thing to watch in the field and something to enjoy an easy walk around the field in then PLEASE PLEASE consider offering this handsome sweet gelding a home!!

(PS>blanket pics/video, it was 20 degrees, 15 mph winds, frozen ground and he was still very willing!)

This adorable little guy is approx 6 months old.  He is one of the "wild" Grayson Highlands Mountain Ponies!  Yet, he is anything but wild, this cute colt is SMART, he led right off the trailer no problem and was very good for his first hoof trim - he is VERY TRAINABLE!  And a fancy, showy animated mover!  Would make an excellent cart pony!

Seeking a forever adoptive home or a winter foster home as well.

$350 minimum donation requested on his adoption

"Fancy"

ADOPTED!

This little girl is truely "Fancy"!  Adorable 3-4 y/o, miniature mare about 34" tall.  Good manners, no vices, she is very people friendly and likes attention, easy to catch, gets along well with others and can be out with mannerly larger horses. Fancy loads, ties & leads. Would make awesome driving horse, has a super typy showy animated trot!  Best for person/family with some experience, not for a total beginner - she is okay with older horse experienced children....its not that she does anything bad, she doesn't - she is just young herself and still learning so better if her handlers have some experience. Adoption Fee: $ asking for a minimum donation of $350 to help cover her rescue costs.

Harlem (In foster care in TN)

 Fill out a Horse Adoption Application

Ahhh, Harlem! What a guy.....this handsome elegant gentleman is desperately seeking companionship for the "golden years"! He is still riding/driving sound but needs the more simple easy retirement type life and no rigorous showing. Harlem has good manners and is truly a sweet guy with lots of personality. He can go barefoot but best with shoes if you are riding or driving. He gets along with others but loves attention from his people/person. Harlem is a mild cribber but with turnout does very well. With his past training he is best for an intermediate rider (not for a total beginner). Harlem still has a lot of love and life to share with you - please contact about adopting this special gentleman!

Joey

Adopted! Sept 2012

Meet "Joey", he was named after the War Horse because he shares a similar story/history like War Horse and/or Black Beauty! This gorgeous handsome older gentleman is desperately needing some tlc and good nutrition. He is a QHx, about 15 hh and 20 yrs old. He is current and utd on coggins, vaccines, deworming, farrier and recently had his teeth floated. Joey is sound and once he has regained his weight he would make a good leisure trail mount with a lot of mileage left. Joey is spunky but also mannerly. He loads and ties and doesn't have any vices. Joey just needs a spot where he can relax, refresh, retire! Joey requires a home where the other horses won't bully him around. If you are interested in adopting or even fostering this special guy please contact us! He is in a foster home in Rougemont NC

Zoey

Adopted! Sept 2012

She's Stupendous! "Zoey" is as near perfect as any Saddlebred I've ever been in contact with. She has style and grace, pizaz and show, but is sweet and good manners, our farrier says she is "perfect"! Zoey has a past history riding/driving in the show ring, also was a successful broodmare. She is in her early teens now and the broodmare years are over for her - looking to have a lasting long-term partnership with someone for leisure rides or drives! Zoey does take a handler with some experience (not for a total beginer) but is very easy to get along with and handle. She has no vices and goes barefoot, easy keeper too! Stunning deep red sorrel! If you are interested in partnering with this special lady please contact us!

Elmo, PeterPan & Sateeva

UPDATE August 2012:
Sateeva is in a wonderful foster home near our rescue farm right here in Virginia.  This will probably be a long-term foster home with her special needs and we will keep a close eye on her...but for now she has settled in very well and is very happy!

PeterPan is still undergoing special rehabilitation with his front hoof.  We expect him to be with us for at least a year.  We NEED DONORS to help support him during this time!

Elmo: adoption pending!

**New pictures are up on facebook!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These precious little miniatures have been living in a dog lot for years!  Sateeva (white mare on right) is about 4 yrs old and the mom.  PeterPan (bay or dun in the middle) is a 2.5 year old stud colt (most likely her baby)....then baby Elmo (white on left) is about 9 months old and probably the result of inbreeding from PeterPan and his mom, Sateeva!  All 3 have been infested with lice and strongyles parasites and have severly neglected hoofcare (extreme on PeterPan!)...also the sweet sweet momma, Sateeva is almost completely blind!
We need your support and DONATIONS for their care!   More pictures and updates can be seen at our facebook page!
  • $100     Initial hoofcare
  • $125     Vet visit, farm call, basic exams
  • $ 90      X-rays for PeterPan
  • $ 25      Deworming - 2 doses for all 3
  • $75       Coggins test on all 3
  • $100     Basic vaccines for all 3
  • $300     Initial basic hay/grain for all 3
Please network and share their story!  Peter Pan in particular will need extensive rehab and your continued support!
Roary
Dec 2012 - Seeking Foster Home and eventually Adoptive Home
"Roary" is a stunningly beautiful TWH Mare, that stands a 15.3 hh and is 7 yrs old. this mare really has a pressence about her and most that meet her on a ride wonder if she is a stallion. She has as much mane/forelock as a Friesian and is a gorgeous true palomino with a blaze. Roary LOVES attention and really will bond with one person and is seeking a perfect partnership with that special somebody!
Roary is best suited for a confident intermediate rider (NOT for a beginner or child). She is good on the trail, been around traffic, ridden on some large rides (50+horses) and does well but she also "shows off" and has a bit of a motor too. She has no vices and is an absolute LOVE that everyone falls for!
**Currently Roary is having an offness here/there - her current adopter has had her thouroughly examined and the chiropractor says it is predominantly with her right hip. The recommendation is that Roary needs to be ridden MORE, preferrably like 3x a week. She needs to build up her hindquarters and strengthen them. Her current adoptive home cannot ride her as much as is being required so they are wanting to do what is best for Roary and find a better suiting match that has more time to be able to help her with this issue**
We are ideally seeking a foster home for Roary over the winter and then if its a great match a forever adoption. A foster home may write off all direct expenses spent on Roary directly.
You MUST meet the following to be considered for Roary! If you meet all of these requirements then please go online and turn in an adoption application (this is used for fosters too).
*Be an intermediate level rider + and have knowledge of horses (even better if you know gaited horses)
*Either know or can obtain a really good equine chiropractor
*Be over 18 years old
*Live within 350 miles of the zip code 24363
Please share and cross-post for Roary!! Thank you!
